Killzone 2 est un jeu de tir à la première personne sur PS3. Après plusieurs campagnes et opérations déjâ relatées dans deux autres jeux, la coalition de l'ISA lance une offensive majeure sur la planète des Helghasts, une nation d'anciens colons terriens aux vues expansionnistes. Le joueur incarne Sev, un soldat de l'ISA qu'on envoie combattre un ennemi impitoyable sur son propre territoire. Le jeu propose également un mode multijoueur qui permet à 32 participants de s'affronter en ligne.
