F-Zero sur Super Nintendo est un jeu de courses futuriste. Quatre navettes sont proposées, avec des caractéristiques différentes pour chacune d'entre elles. Pour être le meilleur sur les quinze circuits du jeu, il faut maîtriser l'inclinaison dans les virages et gérer le boost spécial des bolides. Il faut également veiller à ne pas percuter les autres pilotes et les barrières pour ne pas endommager le véhicule.
