Shinobi est un beat'em all sur Playstation 2. Un violent tremblement de terre a dévasté Tokyo, réduisant la ville en poussière et provoquant la disparition du clan Oboro, ancienne lignée de Shinobi. A la suite de cette catastrophe, des créatures surnaturelles et démoniaques engendrées par un mystérieux sorcier ont envahi la ville. Le joueur incarne Hotsuma, le dernier des Oboro, qui devra faire périr par sa lame tous les ennemis qui se mettront en travers de son chemin.
