Rainbow Six 3 est un jeu de tir à la première personne sur Gamecube teinté de gestion tactique lors des affrontements. Le titre de Red Storm offre au joueur la possibilité d'incarner un membre d'une unité antiterroriste d'élite, le "dernier espoir contre le terrorisme", le Rainbow. Jeu tactique par excellence, il n'est pas question ici de remporter la victoire au nombre de frags mais bien en élaborant la meilleure approche possible face à un problème.
